Lansford Spence reached the men’s 200 metres finals, after winning the third of three 200m metres semi-finals with a personal best time 20.33 seconds. Jason Livermore was eliminated after placing third in semi-final two with a time of 20.76 seconds.
Simone Facey reached the women’s 200 metres finals, after placing second in semi-final one with a time of 22.99 seconds. Anaastasia LeRoy placed fifth with a time of 23.68 seconds and was eliminated.
Men’s 400m hurdles
Isa Phillips reached the men’s 400 metres hurdles final, winning his 400m hurdles heat with a time 49.62 seconds.
Patricia Hall was seventh in the women’s 400m final, clocking 52.69 seconds.
Women’s High Jump
Pan-American Junior silver medallist, Kimberly Williamson, was eighth in the high jump, with a best jump of 1.78m.
Women’s Long Jump

Yanique Levy, 5.81m, and Nickeva Wilson, 5.44m, were 12th and 13th, respectively, in the field.
Lerone Clarke won gold in the men’s 100m event.
Maurice Smith (8214 points) failed to successfully defend his decathlon title, and had to settle for silver behind Cuba’s World bronze medallist Leonel Suarez (8373 points).
Women’s 400 metres
Patricia Hall advanced to the finals of this event. Hall, the only Jamaican woman entered in the 400m, was third in semi-final two with a time of 52.47 seconds.

Ansert Whyte and Michael Mason both failed to reach the finals of this event. Mason was third in semi-final three with a time of 46.09 seconds, while Whyte managed a time of only 47.57 seconds in semi-final three .
2010 Commonwealth Games champion, Lerone Clarke, struck gold in the men’s 100m final at the 16th Pan-American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, yesterday, with a season best time of 10.01 seconds. Clarke won in 10.01 seconds ahead of St Kitts and Nevis’ Kim Collins, 10.04, and Trinidad and Tobago’s Emmanuel Callender, 10.16, as Caribbean athletes swept the medals. Clarke’s medal was Jamaica’s first medal in the athletics competition, and third overall at the 2011 Pan Am Games.
This was Jamaica’s first Pan-American men’s 100m gold medal since Michael Frater was awarded the gold at the 2003 event in Santo Domingo, after American Mickey Grimes was disqualified after failing a drugs test.
