IAAF World Challenge – Berlin, Germany – September 2, 2012 – Jamaican Update

Update on Jamaica’s at yesterday’s IAAF World Challenge in Berlin, Germany:

Kemar Bailey-Cole equaled his personal best to win the IAAF World Challenge 100m race in a time of 10.00 seconds. Fellow Jamaicans Mario Forsythe (10.19) and Michael Frater (10.20) finished in fifth and sixth respectively.

Kerron Stewart ran a time of 11.27 seconds to place second in the women’s 100m sprint behind Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelly-Ann Baptiste (11.25).

Leford Green clocked 49.06 seconds to take a runner-up spot in the 400m hurdles behind Olympic champion Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic (48.89).

Shermaine Williams (12.90) finished fourth in the women’s sprint hurdles race which was won by American Kellie Wells (12.72).

Usain Bolt Runs Slow 100m + Updates On Other Jamaicans At The 2012 Ostrava Golden Spike

The 2012 IAAF World Challenge Ostrava Golden Spike event took place yesterday at Ostrava in the Czech Republic, and Jamaica’s Usain Bolt clocked 10.04 seconds to win the 100m race, with Lerone Clarke finishing fourth with a time of 10.26 seconds. Notably also, Jamaica’s two-time Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown won the women’s 200m race at the event, in a time of 22.38 seconds. Below we’ve provided detailed results of the events in which Jamaicans participated (Jamaicans highlighted in bold).

Jamaicans at the 2012 Daegu World Challenge Meeting – Results

Several Jamaicans participated in the Daegu IAAF World Challenge Meet which took place in South Korea earlier today. Here are some results:

Sprinter Aleen Bailey, ran a time of 11.34 seconds in the women’s 100m race, to finish second behind American, Carmelita Jeter. Just prior to that, Bailey posted a time of 23.15 seconds in the women’s 200m event, to finish third behind LeShaunte Moore (22.71) and ChaRonda Williams (22.82).

Brigitte Foster-Hylton, who is still on the ‘comeback trail’, managed a time of 13.00 seconds to finish third in the women’s 100m hurdles race behind the American pair of Dawn Harper (12.65) and Kellie Wells (12.66).

Jacques Harvey, running in the men’s 100m race, finished third with a time of 10.16 seconds, behind Justin Gatlin (9.93) and Mike Rodgers (10.06).

In the men’s 110m hurdles race, Dwight Thomas finished fourth with a time of 13.63 seconds, behind Aries Merritt (13.21), David Oliver (13.22), and Jason Richardson (13.34).
